SFC Foundations Delhi conducted Rehnuma-The Empathy Beat (Interview series), a series of interviews with 9 eminent social activists in their respective fields. The interview series was organized with the aim to reach out to the youth and all aspirants who are looking for motivation to work for different social causes.

The first interview in this series was with Mr. Ashish Joshi, a young Environmentalist from Aurangabad. He’s been feeding more than 60 dogs and has vaccinated, spayed, rescued and treated more than 100 dogs. He has planted more than 280 trees in barren lands. He believes that every individual should do their bit to make this world a better place to live in. 

Next, our team members talked to Ms. Jahnavi Pandya (NET; M.A.), a psychologist, national award-winning archer, singer, youtuber and social worker. In 2019, she received the Nari Ratna award in Gujarat. Recently, she was awarded the Karmaveer Puraskaar by International Confederation of NGOs in partnership with the United Nations. Her counseling experience involves working with a diverse population, including working with the Mumbai Police, students, juvenile delinquents, geriatric population, and people with mental health disorders, suicidal tendencies, terminal illnesses, and trauma. 

The third social activitst interviewed was Mr.  Subhajit Mukherjee, the founder of Mission Green Mumbai and ambassador of Majhi Vasundhara Abhyan, an initiative by the Maharastra Government.  He has also been recognized as Inventor of the Year 2019 by Mrs. Kiran Bedi. He has been honoured as Jal Rakshak and was awarded the title Water Hero under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, New Delhi. He has also been recognized as the Water Hero of Mumbai by the Bhrahan Mumbai Corporation (BMC). His work has been appreciated as well as tweeted by our Honourable Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi. 

Mr. Shafiqur Rehman Khan was interviewed. Mr. Shafiqur Rahman Khan works for the abolition of human trafficking and female abuse. He talked about his work and the devotion he has towards this cause. His journey so far includes working on various projects like Empower People which has enabled him to collate more efforts in creating awareness about social issues in rural areas. 

Next, we interviewed Manasi Chaudhary, Founder of Pink Legal. Manasi Chaudhary is passionate about women’s rights and gender equality. She’s a law graduate from Jindal Global Law School, Delhi and after practising in the Hyderabad High Court for two years, in 2018, she assisted Hon’ble Justice DY Chandrachud in the Supreme Court for three landmark judgements, namely, Section 377 (Decriminalisation of Homosexuality), Sabrimala Temple and Adultery. Pink Legal is the first ever website in India which is dedicated to women’s rights and women’s law. 

Rahul Kapoor is a European Parliament Sakharov Fellow and a social activist who is determined to stand with the poor, marginalized, down-trodden and those who are last in queue. He has been awarded a gold medal in Masters in Social Work from University of Delhi. He is also a public speaker, prolific writer and a published author.

Another prominent activist interviewed was Tanisha Pandit, an environmentalist, menstrual activist and founder of Ritva Foundation. The organisation works for destigmatising menstruation and making menstruation in India unplastic, safe and sustainable.

Next in the interview series was Rohini Ravee Ramanathan, a digital creator who promotes and shares creative and eco-friendly ways of sustainable living and zero waste. She is a keen and enthusiastic environmentalist. Lastly, we interviewed Bharti Singh Chauhan, a famous social activist and social entrepreneur. Dearly called Bhabhisa in her community, she is the Founder & Chairperson of Praveen Lata Sansthan, an NGO Based at Jaipur, Rajasthan that works to empower underprivileged girls and women across Rajasthan by providing community-based solutions in the area of education, health, safety and sustainable livelihood.
