How noteworthy is the role of a teacher in someone’s life? If you ask me, then I would say that we all should be ineffably indebted to them for making us what we are today. I believe, a teacher is the most responsible and important member of a society because her professional efforts affect the fate of the earth. Basically, teachers are the creator of the society, in which we thrive. And at the same time, we find how magnanimous and benevolent these people are! Truly, teachers are the epitome of cognizance and humility.
A teacher, apart from imparting knowledge, successfully kindles in her student’s mind, the flame of curiosity and enthusiasm. And makes sure that it never stops burning. Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, whose birth anniversary is marked as teacher’s day, once said “when we think we know we cease to learn. “A teacher ensures that her student keeps on learning till eternity. She moulds their pristine and budding minds in a way, that they learn the art of staying humble and grounded even after becoming great intellectuals. A teacher stays in our life for a shorter period, but her influence is there with us forever and ever. In our school and college days, they are present there as our problem solvers. While, at the later stages of our lives, the optimistic attitude that we’d garnered from them becomes the light, that leads us through the difficulties. The ways in which, our country’s youth contribute towards its advancement, are highly influenced by the principles of a teacher. To the teacher, a nation entrusts her most precious resource, her children; and asks that they be prepared to face the rigors of individual participation in a democratic society. That’s why it becomes crucial that the power of a teacher is never misused. Because, a person with an evil mindset, using his inflammatory rhetoric, could easily transform a human into a diabolic creature. It won’t be wrong to say that, the extreme ideologies that foster terrorism must had been originated from some malicious people, calling themselves a ‘teacher’.
Knowing how influential and essential teachers are, I urge you all to think; are we as a society obedient enough in playing our role towards them? I don’t think we are. In pre-modern times, teachers used to enjoy immense respect. Now- a-days, since internet dominates every household, children don’t leave any stone unturned in judging a teacher and making fun of him whenever they get a chance. We should never forget that, an interaction with a 5-inches screen would never be able to replace an experienced man’s wisdom. The wisdom that transforms us into our better selves.
On a final note.” Teachers are mind engineers! Teachers are life directors! Don’t ever undermine a teacher!” -ERNEST AGYEMANG YEBOAH
